The UBM middleware provides the implementation of the Universal Backplane Management (UBM) - a common backplane management framework for a host, to determine the SAS/SATA/PCIe backplane capabilities, Drive Facing Connector (DFC) Status and Control information, and to read the port routing of the DFCs to Host Facing Connectors (HFC) of the backplane.
- Status and Control over DFC I/O
- High speed lane port routing assignments to HFCs
- The backplane capabilities include:
- PCIe Reference Clock expectations
- PCIe Reset expectations
- Power Disable support
- Dual Port support
- Automatic PCIe reset upon device installation
- Controller programmable firmware update
The UBM requires:
